The Stifterverband is seeking practice-oriented concepts for digital learning opportunities on AI Literacy in schools from universities, educational organisations and other non-profit institutions! The application deadline is 24 April 2026.

AI is fundamentally transforming education. This makes it all the more important for teachers to be empowered to shape this development reflectively, competently and responsibly.

Do you also think it is important to approach AI openly and with curiosity – while keeping an eye on its risks? Do you also believe that teachers play a key role in developing an AI-literate society? Just like us, do you want to support (prospective) teachers in using AI confidently in the classroom?

Then make a valuable contribution with your idea and take part in the ideas competition on the topic of AI Literacy in Schools!

We are looking for concepts and ideas that meaningfully contribute to strengthening AI Literacy in schools, particularly targeting (prospective) teachers as central multipliers. The Stifterverband, as part of the Alliance for Future Skills within the Future Mission Education and with the support of TÜV SÜD Foundation, will award funding of €10,000 each to the three best concepts.

The call is aimed at universities, educational organisations and other non-profit institutions.

Funding will support the concept and development of a self-directed online micro-course on the AI Campus (minimum learning time: 2 hours). This should be aimed at teachers and student teachers, relate to the AI Literacy Framework of the European Commission and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and outline concrete learning and teaching scenarios.

Our selection criteria are:

  1. Exploratory learning:
Independent discovery and experimentation enable in-depth competence acquisition. We therefore particularly value approaches with exploratory learning formats and teaching materials, varied methods, types of exercises and tasks, and a wide range of visualisations.
  2. Collaboration with universities:
As the Stifterverband, we particularly emphasise the role of universities in shaping future-proof education. At least one university should contribute its expertise to the implementation of the learning opportunities.
  3. Cooperation with teachers:
Opportunities are most effective when they meet the needs of their target group. Cooperative approaches with teachers or student teachers are therefore especially welcome.
  4. Alignment with the AI Literacy Framework:
The ideas clearly align with the focal points and learning scenarios outlined in the framework.

A key requirement for funding is that the learning opportunities can be made available as open educational resources (Standard: CC BY-SA 4.0) on the AI Campus.

You can take part in the ideas competition until 24 April. All details about applying can be found on the website for the call for proposals

All submissions will be reviewed by a jury in a single-stage process, and the winners are expected to be announced in May 2026. We look forward to seeing many exciting learning opportunities so that together we can strengthen AI Literacy in schools!
