Overview

The course “Process Informatics” offers a practice-oriented introduction to the field of data acquisition and visualisation in engineering. Unlike many other areas of application, data acquisition from plants and sensors presents a particularly challenging additional hurdle for digitalisation and, ultimately, the application of artificial intelligence. Therefore, this online course imparts knowledge on data acquisition, storage and visualisation as well as their application by means of learning videos, practical examples, self-assessment tests, and hands-on exercises.

What content can I expect?

  • Setting up a prototype pipeline for data acquisition
  • Data acquisition via OPC UA and MQTT
  • Storage and visualisation using a dashboard
  • Framework aspects such as methodological approach and security considerations

What will I achieve?

Upon completion of the course, you will be able to...

  • Describe the interface protocols OPC UA and MQTT.
  • Set up a pipeline for data collection, storage, and visualisation.
  • Identify key framework conditions to be considered in terms of safety technology and methodology.

What requirements do I need?

  • Prior knowledge in the field of engineering
  • Basic programming skills are an advantage but not necessary
