AI chatbots such as ChatGPT have been a topic of conversation since the end of 2022 concerning the use of intelligent systems in educational institutions, often also sparking emotionally charged debates about the possibilities and limitations of generative AI.
The course Language Assistants as an Opportunity for University Teaching aims to enable university lecturers to creatively experiment with AI language models in the educational context while also encouraging a critical assessment of their use. In doing so, the aim is to alleviate fears surrounding the use of generative AI and to strengthen the role of lecturers as learning facilitators in a world shaped by digital tools. A change of perspective is sought, focusing on the opportunities offered by intelligent language technologies for university teaching.
