Overview

Ethically sound data and algorithms are increasingly determining the trustworthiness of AI applications. This learning opportunity dispels the myth that ethics and morality can be implemented universally in AI applications to avoid all forms of discrimination and cognitive bias.

Aspects and implications of data and algorithm ethics are explored in depth, among other things, through interviews with various experts, users, and decision-makers. Integrated mini-games and an overarching ethics game encourage a playful engagement with the topic. This fosters ethical self-awareness in the context of data and intelligent algorithms.

What content can I expect?

  • Conceptual foundations of data and algorithm ethics
  • Overview of key moral theories as an understanding of culturally influenced, and thus not universally uniform, ethical thinking
  • Forms and manifestations of data and algorithm ethics in the current application of AI approaches
  • Approaches for ethically correct data processing and algorithm design
  • Integrated ethics games in the individual learning sequences and an overarching ethics game to make these contents tangible

What will I achieve?

Upon completion of the course, you will be able to...

  • name essential technical terms, theoretical backgrounds and the models of data and algorithm ethics,
  • understand the fundamentals of culturally dependent ethical approaches in data and algorithm ethics,
  • understand and critically evaluate examples of data and algorithm ethics in current AI applications,
  • derive courses of action for the design of ethically unobjectionable data and algorithms as the basis for the trustworthiness of the design, implementation and use of various AI applications, as well as
  • better comprehend relevant decision-making processes in the current AI discourse.

What requirements do I need?

  • no prior knowledge required

What else should I know?
