Overview
The course “Data Literacy for Primary School” provides a fundamental introduction to data literacy and offers appropriate didactic materials for implementation in the classroom. The course consists of five modules covering basic knowledge about data, data storage and access, data analysis, as well as data ethics, protection, and security. The modules are embedded in a framework story that illustrates the key issues of each module by way of an example. The course is aimed at (prospective) primary school teachers who wish to strengthen their pupils’ data competences. No prior knowledge is required!

After completing the course
- I know different types of data and their significance
- I can collect and evaluate data in a critical manner
- I have a basic understanding of computer-based learning from data and can assess its opportunities and risks
- I can critically question and assess the trustworthiness of data and data products
- I can handle my own data and the data of pupils in a reflective and self-determined way with regard to data protection & data security
- and implement the aforementioned topics didactically for primary school teaching
